Disruptive Technology Channels announces the availability of a solar powered charger for the iPod - Solio

MacExpo, UK, 18th November, 2004

Disruptive Technology Channels, a UK-based distributor of consumer electronics products and owner of the PodGear™ brand of iPod™ accessories, today announced that it is distributing the Solio™ – a portable charger and battery back-up for the iPod that charges its internal battery from its ergonomically designed solar panels, or the mains.

Tom Dudderidge, managing director, Disruptive Technology Channels, commented: “The Solio is a fantastic accessory for any serious iPod user. Using its solar panels or mains adaptor, it can store enough power for a complete iPod battery recharge. This means that iPod users will never have to worry about battery life again when they are on the move!”

Charge your Solio from mains power; or use the highly efficient, windproof and weather proof, solar cells (patent pending) to generate energy from natural sunlight; and store it in the high capacity integrated Lithium Ion battery. It takes just 4 hours of mains power or 8-10 hours of direct sunlight to fully charge the empty internal battery. This is enough for a full re-charge of your iPod.

The Solio is ergonomic and compact, designed for style and functionality it is made from recycled and recyclable lightweight robust materials. When closed it will easily slip into a shirt pocket and weighs just 165 grams (dimensions when closed: 120mm x 65mm x 34mm).

Functional in temperatures from -20°C to 55°C, it will provide extra safety and independence when you are far from civilisation whether out skiing or trekking the Sahara.

Boots to stock iPod accessories from Disruptive Technology Channels

MacExpo, UK, 18th November, 2004

Disruptive Technology Channels, a UK-based distributor of consumer electronics products and owner of the PodGear brand of iPod™ accessories, today announced that Boots the Chemist™, one of the best known retail names in the UK, providing health & beauty products and advice, is to stock the PodGear range from late November.

Tom Dudderidge, managing director, Disruptive Technology Channels, commented: “We are pleased that Boots has taken on the PodGear range. Our products bring additional functionality to the iPod user and support from Boots shows that the iPod and accessory market has come of age. Around 50 stores will initially carry the PodGear range and Boots are looking to expand this in the New Year.”

A Boots spokesperson commented: “Boots is already successfully selling the iPod during this key Christmas period. As the product is so successful, the next logical step is to sell accessories, especially as our customers have already been requesting them. We hope to continue our success with this range in the New Year.

iPod accessory provider Disruptive Technology Channels, takes on Ranieri PR

MacExpo, UK, 18th November, 2004

Disruptive Technology Channels, a UK-based distributor of consumer electronics products and owner of the PodGear brand of iPod™ accessories, today announced that it has taken on Ranieri PR to manage its UK communications programme.

Tom Dudderidge, managing director, Disruptive Technology Channels, commented: “The iPod accessories market – having been quite niche when we launched in March this year – has become mainstream almost overnight. This presents us with a great market opportunity, but also quite a large challenge. The market has become highly competitive, and to stay ahead we need top-class communications with our potential customers.”

PodGear™ CarDock helps iPod hit the road

London, 17th March 2004

Disruptive Technology Channels today announces the launch of the PodGear™ CarDock, a unique in-car cradle and charger and the first product in the PodGear line of accessories for Apple's runaway international bestseller – the iPod mp3 player.

The PodGear™ CarDock provides a stylish solution to the problem of using iPods in cars, doing away with the clutter of cables and the associated heavy drain on battery power when linking iPods up to in-car hi-fi systems.

Unlike existing iPod car-chargers on the market, the PodGear™ CarDock offers completely cable-free charging so that your iPod remains easy to access, fully powered and no threat to in-car safety while you are on the road. Suggested retail price for the CarDock is £34.99 including VAT, and it will be on sale in stores this week.

The CarDock is the first in a range of own-brand PodGear™ accessories combining style and practicality from Disruptive Technology Channels, an innovative new player in the UK consumer electronics market. Forthcoming PodGear™ releases include iPod cases, cassette adapters, power adapters and a selection of accessories for the new iPod Mini.
